Ellie from Borderlands 2! I think Ellie is awesome for a number of reasons.

First, she’s big. In a world saturated with video game ladies with perfect figures, it’s refreshing and exciting to see Ellie, a character who’s comfortable and confident with her weight.
When bandits make hood ornaments of her to mock her, she has you go fetch them to put them around her shop because she thinks they’re awesome-looking. “Like an eagle soaring through the air, except that the eagle is like 300 pounds with a kick-ass rack,” in her own words.

Second, she’s smart. She’s not portrayed as stupid or slow, and she’s got as quick a wit as everybody else in the game. She’s also not portrayed as mean or a slob, or similar cliches.

Third, she’s confident. She’s not afraid to speak her mind or give her opinions, even when those opinions might be “controversial” (She doesn’t like wearing make up or dressing up, and left her home because her mother was pressuring her to do just that). She’s independent and doesn’t need a man to tell her how to do her job even though she works in a traditionally masculine environment.

Also, she’s adorable.
